In West Vancouver, Canada, a home with a rich personality combines ocean views with the natural scenery of the Pacific Northwest. According to Jenny Boutin of Ayume Concepts, the home was designed for a growing family to feel collected, rather than coordinated.
Each room has its own unique character, tied together through architectural details, natural stone, layered textures, and bold moments of color. The goal of the whole-home renovation was to make the traditional house feel expressive, eclectic, and personal.
The two-tone living room showcases shades of pink, with a dramatic granite fireplace as the central feature. Lighting, mouldings, and finishes complement the fireplace, while vaulted ceilings give the saturated palette room to breathe.
The kitchen was completely reimagined to improve function and flow. Faux beams and custom cabinetry in a bespoke Farrow & Ball French Gray were introduced, paired with striking Calacatta Monet stone across the countertops and backsplash.
Color takes a bold turn in other areas of the home, such as the bar, which features custom millwork in a rust-toned finish. The “blue room,” an intimate TV lounge, is wrapped in color, with mouldings and high-gloss Farrow & Ball paint creating a backdrop.
The powder room underwent a dramatic transformation, with bronze grasscloth, black zellige, solid copper fixtures, and a tiger-striped velvet curtain creating a moody and unexpected space.
The project took approximately six months to complete, with the clients heavily involved throughout the design process. Jenny Boutin notes that seeing every element come together into a home that reflected the clients was satisfying.
